Isaac Torcellini's opening speech discussed why Scramble the Duck's prediction is so valuable: "On the other hand, we know that the truth of the prediction matters. The quacks that we interpret for you today have a legacy of accuracy. They come from a duck who is well educated, spends his time enjoying and studying the weather, and above all is working to maintain the honor of his prognostication discipline." Scramble can boast 100% accuracy. As one person said, "I still trust Scramble more than any rodent!"

After Scramble examined the meterological conditions, he asked his handlers to read a scroll containing his prediction. In the scroll read by Karissa Howard, Scramble forecasted more winter weather, noting the shadow that points to six more weeks of winter:

The sun looks pale.
The wind is blowing cold.
The spring will stay quiet.
The winter is bold!
Six more weeks of winter to behold!

After his prediction, State Senator Jeff Gordon and State Representative Pat Boyd presented a citation from the Connecticut General Assembly to Scramble for his service to the community.

Scramble is looking forward to more winter fun!

Scramble predicts “Early Spring”

2025-02-02T00:00:00Z

On this morning of single-digit temperatures, Scramble the Duck gave the world yet another accurate prediction. After thorough meterological investigation, Scramble told his translators to tell the world that there will be relief from these cold temperatures--there will be an early spring!

Benjamin Torcellini's opening speech gave a summary of why Scramble's work is so important: "The weather in New England is something special, something that cannot be predicted by a furry rodent who rarely even looks at the weather. This is why a new critter came to the stage, to perhaps save the people of the New England corridor from a possible winter catastrophe." While groundhogs may not be very accurate, Scramble can boast 100% accuracy.

Aaron Minor reads Scramble's prediction.

After Scramble examined the meterological conditions, he asked his handlers to read a scroll containing his prediction. In the scroll read by handler Aaron Minor, Scramble forecasted early spring weather, noting the meaningful absence of a shadow that points to an early spring:

Mark ye well, the time draws nigh,
When winter’s grasp shall fade and die.

No more the frost shall bite thine hand,
Nor icy winds o’er Eastford’s land.
The snow shall melt, the buds shall bloom,
And banish forth the winter’s gloom.

Six weeks less of winter’s reign,
The earth shall wake, no chill remain.
The brooks shall sing, the meadows green,
And spring’s fair promise shall be seen.

After his prediction, State Senator Jeff Gordon and State Representative Pat Boyd thanked Scramble for his service to the community.

Scramble, like many other Yankees, looks forward to a warm season!

Scramble predicts “Early Spring”

2024-02-02T00:00:00Z

Today at 7:30 a.m., Scramble the duck made his accurate prediction. After careful investigation for a shadow, he directed his handlers to declare that there will be an early spring.

The opening speech, read by Benjamin Torcellini, noted the shortcomings of groundhogs and the superior weather predictions of Scramble the Duck. Quoting Mark Twain, Torcellini noted, “The weather is always doing something [in New England]; always attending strictly to business; always getting up new designs and trying them on the people to see how they will go.” He preceded to discuss Scramble and his perfect accuracy. Unlike groundhogs, Scramble has predicted the unruly weather of New England well for many years. Afterwards, the doors of the model Ivy Glenn were opened, and Scramble walked down the red carpet and preceeded to predict the weather.

Scramble looked carefully for his shadow and directed to his handlers a scroll containing his prediction. In the scroll read by handler Aaron Minor, Scramble forecasted early spring weather. The absence of a shadow prompted Scramble to declare that spring would come early during the coming six weeks. Minor noted that Scramble has a proven record of perfect accuracy. After establishing this, Minor moved to the prediction, telling followers of Scramble, “Warmth is on the way. An early spring—a gift to you. No shadow! Happy day!”

In addition, Scramble was presented with a citation from the Connecticut General Assembly. State Senator Jeff Gordon, while gifting the citation, congratulated Scramble on his contributions to Eastford citizens.

Scramble looks forward to the warming weather.
